Our teachers use a variety of strategies to assess student learning.
Assessment Procedures and Protocols
We provide detailed information to students about what we expect from them throughout the year and how their work will be assessed. The most recent THS Assessment Procedures and Protocols documents are available below.
Years 7 to 9
Years 10 to 12
Scope and Sequences and Assessment Schedules
The Scope & Sequences for each Subject give an overview of the topics studied in class. These documents also show the week students can expect an assessment to be due or undertaken.
The 2025 Schedules for Year 7 to 10 are available here.
Students can access more detailed Scope and Sequences and Assessment Schedules on their Canvas Courses.
Please note that these schedules are subject to change.
Misadventure, Illness and Extension Forms
Students requiring applications for misadventure, illness or extensions of Assessment Tasks can complete the required documentation electronically or on paper. Once completed, email the completed form to the Classroom Teacher, or send via Canvas.
Teachers observe students' work in class and look closely at tasks throughout the year. They also formally assess a student's achievement based on the outcomes described in the syllabus of the subject.
As a parent or carer, you’ll receive a written report twice a year. It gives you a clear picture of your child’s achievements – what they know and can do.
In Years 7 to 10, we use the common grade scale in reporting. In Year 11, we use the Preliminary grade scale.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses are assessed on achievement of competencies.
Semester Reports are accessible through the THS Sentral Parent Portal.
