Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Colour Run
What a blast! Our Colour Run turned the school grounds into a rainbow of excitement earlier this year. From head to toe, everyone was covered in colour (and smiles!) as we ran, laughed, and celebrated together. It was the perfect way to show off our school spirit and have some messy, memorable fun!
NAIDOC Day: Celebrating Culture and Community
Toronto High School proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week 2025 with a day full of learning, reflection, and connection. This year’s theme, “Keep the Fire Burning – Blak, Loud and Proud,” encouraged students and staff to recognise and honour the rich histories, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The day began with a moving Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, followed by performances from local Aboriginal artists and storytelling sessions led by community Elders. Students participated in workshops exploring art, dance, and language, deepening their understanding of local Awabakal culture.
NAIDOC Day at Toronto High School was not only a celebration, but also a reminder of our ongoing commitment to reconciliation and respect. The sense of pride and unity across our school community was truly inspiring.

Pathways to Success: Careers, Transitions and Student Achievement
At Toronto High School, preparing students for life beyond the classroom is a key priority. Our Careers and Transitions Team works closely with students to explore pathways into further education, training, and employment.
This year, many of our students have excelled in School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs), gaining hands-on experience while completing their studies. Others have thrived during work experience placements, developing valuable skills and building confidence for their future careers.
We are proud to see students securing part-time employment, apprenticeships, and early university offers — a testament to their hard work and the support of our dedicated Careers staff. Toronto High School continues to open doors to opportunity, helping every student find their path to success.
Year 8 Students Explore the Future with STEM at Lake Macquarie’s Fab Lab
Our Year 8 students recently enjoyed an inspiring and hands-on experience at Lake Macquarie City Council’s Fab Lab, as part of the HunterWISE program.
The students dived into creative STEM activities, designing detailed dioramas that incorporated cutting-edge technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting. They then presented their imaginative visions for how Lake Macquarie might look in 2045, proposing innovative STEM-based solutions to tackle future community challenges.
We extend our sincere thanks to Lake Macquarie City Council and HunterWISE for offering this fantastic opportunity that sparked creativity, collaboration, and forward-thinking among our students.
