Learning Support Header

At our school, we ensure every student is ready to learn. We support students with disability and additional learning needs so they can take part in all areas of school life. You do not need a formal diagnosis for your child to receive support in a mainstream class. Support can begin at any stage of school.

Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and changed when needed.  If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.

  • student support officers (SSOs)
  • itinerant teachers for vision or hearing
  • Aboriginal Education Officers
  • community and home school liaison officers.

Toronto High School also runs Generalist classes where teachers deliver a highly differentiated and explicit curriculum to students who require some additional support in their learning. These are highly supported classes with a higher ratio of teachers to students allowing for more individualised attention to each student, enabling teachers to better understand student needs, providing more targeted support, and building stronger relationships with them; essentially leading to potentially improved learning outcomes by giving each student more dedicated time with the teacher.

Contact us to meet with a member of this team to talk about your child’s strengths, interests and areas where they may need support.
